Robert Burns Program  "The Meeting of the Pen & Fiddle"

Meeting of Pen&Fiddle'18.jpg

U.S National Scottish Fiddle Champion Seán Heely presents an evening of music from 18th century Scotland. The theme “The Meeting of the Pen and the Fiddle” refers to the inspiring time Robert Burns spent with Scottish Fiddle patriarch Niel Gow in 1787.  Seán will present original tunes from which Burns used in many of his works. Along with the tunes come the tales and stories that shape the music as well as the dynamic life of Burns.  From elegant, haunting slow airs, mighty pipe marches, and the wild and rugged Strathspeys and Reels, this performance is both highly engaging and educational for Burns aficionados and newcomers to the tradition.
